ASSEMBLY REPUBLICAN LEADERSHIP ON FALLING UNEMPLOYMENT RATE
For Immediate Release:
CARSON CITY, NV – April 20, 2017
Assembly Minority Leader Paul Anderson, and Deputy Minority Leaders James Oscarson and Jim Wheeler released the following joint statement regarding Nevada’s falling unemployment rate.
“With unemployment now down to 4.8%, this month marks the 73rd consecutive month of year-over-year declines. Under the leadership of Governor Sandoval, Steve Hill and his team at the Office of Economic Development, and conservative leaders in the Nevada Legislature, Nevada is now 4th in the nation in job growth. This is proof that our reforms work – and the New Nevada is now a reality. Thanks to these leaders, Nevada is stronger than at any point since before the recession.
The proof is in the facts – and our work now is to continue Nevada’s progress, and ensure that our New Nevada stands as a testament for the benefit of future generations.”
ASSEMBLYMEN ANDERSON, OSCARSON AND WHEELER ON SECRETARY OF STATE’S VOTER FRAUD INVESTIGATION
For Immediate Release:
CARSON CITY, NV – April 19, 2017
Assembly Republican Leadership released the following statement regarding the Secretary of State’s ongoing investigation into possible voter fraud in the 2016 election.
“We want to thank Secretary Cegavske for sending more information about this important topic. While we don’t know the scope of the investigation, we do hope that the final results help us to continue to improve our system of voting.
Our caucus has been committed to voter integrity from day one – and we have included it in our Battle Born Priorities.
What is clear is that there is not a system in place that screens non-citizens from our voting rolls, and that is troubling. While the amount of voter fraud uncovered by the Secretary of State’s office is small, anything that questions the integrity of any vote is troubling. We will be carefully watching this unfolding investigation to look for ways we can work with the Secretary of State’s office to streamline their communications with any state agencies responsible, in any way, for voter registration.”

Senator Goicoechea & Assemblyman Oscarson React to SB 21
For Immediate Release: Feb. 23, 2017 at 9:07:59 A.M. PST
CARSON CITY – Senator Pete Goicoechea and Assemblyman James Oscarson released the following statement about SB 21, which seeks to abolish the Nye County Water District.
“This bill was brought to the Legislature by Nye County Commissioners. They introduced it, and they support it. We believe that this is a decision best made by local government and those closest to the issue. Any indications otherwise are simply untrue. We both believe in local control of water resources, but we will defer to the County Commission as to specific actions they wish to take. This is, after all, not a state issue but an issue of local government.”

V.A. Breaks Ground for New Clinic In Pahrump!
The long awaited ground breaking ceremony for the new Pahrump V.A. Clinic was held in Pahrump on Friday with several notable dignitaries in attendance.
Assemblyman James Oscarson joined among others, Senator Dean Heller, Congressman Cresent Hardy, State Senator Pete Goicoechea, and several local elected officials along with an enthusiastic crowd of veterans and local citizens for this important event to kick off construction of the new Veteran’s Clinic located on Lola Dr. next to Desert View Hospital in Pahrump.
Since James was first elected to represent District 36 in 2012, he has focused on what mattered most: creating jobs, improving education, protecting seniors and veterans, and giving rural Nevada the strong and respected voice it deserves.
In the two legislative sessions in which he has served, he has stayed true to his core goals, and delivered significant results.
Despite all that he has helped accomplish, however, there is still much more to do, which is why he is running for reelection.
“I am extremely proud of the historic reforms we were able to pass in the last Legislative Session. We accomplished more than I ever thought possible, but there is still much to do. “
“Among other things, our seniors and veterans need more help, rural Nevada needs more attention, and our Second Amendment Rights need more protection. With my background, my experience, and my leadership as chair of the Health and Human Services Committee, I will continue to be a strong advocate for District 36.”
“I welcome the upcoming campaign, and the opportunity it gives me to earn the trust and votes of my friends, neighbors, and constituents,” said Oscarson.
